The project's safeguards instruments were prepared, reviewed and publicly disclosed. Community consultation is part of the project design, alongside environmental and social management measures and a grievance redress mechanism.
The technical annex confirms a Category 1 environmental and social risk classification. It also records the preparation and disclosure of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments for Kambia and Port Loko, a Resettlement Action Plan, Pest Management Plan, Stakeholder Engagement Plan and Grievance Redress Mechanism.
Public consultation forms part of the safeguards process. The website therefore links directly to the publicly disclosed African Development Bank documentation rather than reproducing sensitive household-level impact details or internal case information.

Climate-smart by design.
The project design includes improved water management, climate-resilient varieties, training in sustainable land and water management, improved access infrastructure and measures intended to reduce climate-related post-harvest disruption.
A practical resilience agenda
The climate assessment identifies flooding, waterlogging, salinisation, changing rainfall and rising temperatures as important risks to agriculture. SLERAZ addresses these through irrigation and water management, suitable rice varieties, stronger farmer capacity and climate-conscious infrastructure.
The technical climate assessment also records the project as aligned with the Paris Agreement objectives and with Sierra Leone's national climate commitments.
